The capital of France, the city of fashion, of delicious food, of lots of restaurants, museums, galleries, theathres... There are so many things to do! So many places and monuments to see. Let´s look at the famous ones.
Museums
The world´s most famous museum is the Musée du
Louvre. It was the seat of the French kings for many years. The emperor Napoleon Bonaparte
rebuilt it to the national museum and started to collect art from all around the world. Now it
is one of the biggest museum in the world. You can find there pieces of art as pictures,
sculptures, furniture, African clothes and masks etc. I advise you to reserve whole morning for
the visit of Louvre. It opens at 9 a.m. That´s the best time you can go there because there
aren´t as many people as there are in the afternoon. You can go through all 3 parts (Denon,
Sully, Richelieu) in four hours provided that you won´t stop in front of all objects. As you
may have heard: you would need the whole week to visit Louvre if you stop in front of all
objects for at least 3 minutes! After the four-hour visit you will be very tired so I advise
you to have lunch in the Louvre snack-bar. After lunch, if you still have a energy to walk, you
can visit the Musée d´Orsay. It is not far from Louvre, just across the bridge over the Seine.
In this museum you can find especially pictures and sculptures. The building used to be an
ancient railway station so the interior is different from other museums. From a distance you
can make out two big clocks thanks to them you cannot pass it. The visit can take two hours. So
maybe you understand now you really need a pair of good shoes to endure this all day walking!
Restaurants
I recommend you to go for dinner to the Montmartre. In the Place du Tertre there are many bars and restaurants. You can sit down in the one of the many restaurant-gardens and watch the hustle and bustle. As you may know there are many painters at this square. They paint the tourists so expect that one of them addresses you. The nice Czech girls are a magnet for them. If you don´t want to be painted, you must be firm in your refusal. Be careful - they can start painted you even if you are eating. Every restaurant has a menu\" written on the black boards outside so you can compare the prices and the offers. Usually there are 3-4 types of meal: the usual meals like steak with French fries or the traditional French ones like mussel. You can order the cheaper or the more expensive one. It`s common to have starter, main course and dessert for you meal. In French restaurants they give you a bottle of water for free. But it is the normal still water. If you want to taste the French wine, ask the waiter for advice. But be prepared that it will be as expensive as the menu\". That itself costs around 12 euros - which is a good price for three-course dinner.
